Brian is the founder and principal of the Law Office of Brian D. Amsbary. The focus of his practice is threefold. First, he helps clients navigate complex land use, environmental, and other related issues that bear upon the transfer, use, and development of real estate. Second, he defends his clients’ interests in select litigation before local governments, administrative agencies, and state and federal courts. Third, he advocates for clients in state and federal appellate courts, having worked on dozens of appeals in private practice and as a judicial clerk for the Honorable James M. Johnson of the Washington Supreme Court.
Brian was born and raised in Tacoma. After graduating as valedictorian of his class at Wilson High School, he attended Dartmouth College where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in history. He returned home for law school, graduating with honors from the University of Washington School of Law, before going on to clerk for Justice Johnson. Prior to founding the Law Office of Brian D. Amsbary, he worked for several years at Groen Stephens & Klinge LLP, a land use firm in Bellevue.
Brian lives in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood with his wife and two daughters. When away from the office, he lives and dies (too often the latter) with the fortunes of the Mariners, Seahawks, and Huskies.
